Prohibited Items
For the safety of all users, locker hosts, and our field technicians, certain items may never be exchanged or stored through ExchangeBox lockers. Please review these rules before scheduling a drop-off.
Items We Do Not Allow
Firearms, ammunition, explosives, and weapons
Any firearm, firearm parts, ammunition, fireworks, explosive devices, stun guns, or combat blades and edged weapons.
Hazardous, flammable, corrosive, or toxic materials
Compressed gasses, combustible fuels, motor oils, industrial solvents, corrosive acids, toxic chemicals, or poisons.
Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
Controlled substances, illicit narcotics, unauthorized chemicals, or tools and apparatus intended for drug use or manufacture.
Prescription medications and medical substances
Prescription medications without authorization, regulated pharmaceutical substances, or restricted medical devices.
Perishable or refrigerated food
Fresh groceries, dairy products, raw meats, produce, prepared dishes, or any consumable that spoils or produces foul odors without refrigeration.
Live animals or plants
Any living creature, pets, livestock, insects, perishable flora, botanical specimens, or protected wildlife.
Biohazard materials and human remains
Medical waste, blood, bodily fluids, clinical cultures, biological samples containing infectious pathogens, or human remains.
Stolen, counterfeit, or pirated goods
Items obtained through theft, unauthorized replica merchandise, pirated digital media, or goods infringing intellectual property rights.
Cash, currency, and financial instruments
Physical banknotes, coins, bearer bonds, money orders, cashier's checks, activated gift cards, or precious metal bullion.
Alcohol and tobacco products
Beer, wine, liquor, distilled spirits, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, vape hardware, and nicotine-based e-liquids.
Damaged or recalled lithium batteries
Swollen, punctured, leaking, or recalled lithium-ion cells, or loose combustible battery units not secured inside appliances.
Items exceeding locker compartment dimensions or weight limits
Articles too large or heavy to fit comfortably inside a locker compartment, or any parcel preventing proper automated door closure.
Anything illegal to own, sell, or transport
Contraband, illicit materials, or any item whose custody, transfer, or sale violates federal, state, or municipal laws.
Prepare Your Item for Exchange
Before placing an item into an ExchangeBox locker, ensure it is clean, safely packaged, and completely ready for the buyer to receive. While our internal compartment camera takes high-resolution verification photos upon deposit, protective wrapping must still safeguard the item from scratches, dust, or transit wear.
Make sure all accompanying cords, accessories, manuals, and peripherals promised in your listing are bundled neatly alongside the primary item so the recipient collects everything at once without forcing or jamming the compartment door.
Your Responsibility
As a buyer or seller using ExchangeBox, you remain legally responsible for the items you deposit or collect. ExchangeBox does not inspect items prior to drop-off, nor do we verify the ownership, provenance, or mechanical condition of marketplace merchandise.
If you are arranging a trade or purchase via Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp, or similar platforms, remember that listing an item on Facebook Marketplace or another network does not exempt it from our prohibited items policy or local regulations. Items that cannot be legally or safely transferred must never be deposited in an unattended locker.
ExchangeBox reserves the right to refuse service, inspect compartments, cancel active exchanges, and notify law enforcement if any item violates this policy or applicable law.
